House Of Meg Tearooms is the best! - all the staff are so friendly and willing to help you. The food is lovely and everyone is welcome for a nice cuppa tea! - in the village of Gilsland, it's the best meeting place for anybody who justs wants a light lunch and a chat. It really is great and as I mentioned before the staff are really nice I would recommend the All Day Breakfast - very reasonable price and great quality food A great place to go.

After the obligatory 57 trips to the tip on Bank Holiday Monday. Imagine my surprise when Colin suggested taking me out for a spot of lunch. Well you would be surprised if you knew Col! Off we went to Megs and it was great to see most of the other locals had the same idea. We dined al fresco in the sun. Try the all day breakfast, tuna and cheese melt paninis and throw in a teacake for good measure and you will not be sorry. Andi you are a star.

I can recommend any of the (massive) hot sarnies (two eggs and mushroom is my fave) as a champion stomach liner prior to an afternoon on the lash.
